I have learned of two new slots games that will be available from 5th August 2008 at most good Microgaming powered casinos (such as Jackpot City or Vegas Palms).

Galactic Gopher Slots Game - I have been told that this game is aimed at beginners, and should be 'low volatility'. The game has an impressive 30 paylines and a minimum coin size of 1 cent (so it is indeed a penny slot machine) and you can thus bet on all 30 paylines for just 30 cents per spin! The game images are quite cute, and the game also has free spins and a gamble feature.

Stash of the Titans Slots Game - I have been told that Stash of the Titans is better geared towards expert players and has a high volatility, however in the Microgaming brief of the game (yup I get sent these how important do I feel now), they state it is suitable for all player levels. This game can also be classed as a penny slots machine as it allows bets from just 1 cent, you can activate all 20 paylines for just 20 cents per spin. I have just written an explaination of the $500 Free Play + 100% match to $100 at Jackpot City in our slots forum. The basic premise is that players get $500 of free play for 30 minutes and can then move any winnings (anything over and above the $500) accross to their real money account.

I've just realised that I haven't yet posted a blog about the fantastic Cashapillar slots game. I have just heard that next months new slots will be Jolly Jester & Big Kahuna – Snakes and Ladders, both will be released on 1st July 2008. I have just received a list of the most played games in May 2008, across the 'Belle Rock' group of casinos which includes big name casinos like Riverbelle Casino, Lucky Nugget Casino and Jackpot City Casino (Remember Jackpot City who had a fairly recent revamp and sent me a whole bunch of strange banners).

Being some what of a slots buff, I found this data very interesting, for example who would have thought that the favourite game in france would actually be a US patriotic style game? You may remember my post a few days back where I talked about the 'new look' Jackpot City Casino, well I have received the strangest banners from one of their pr guys. I really don't know what to make of them, after I said they are going for a more serious look they send me these. lol The only serious thing about these banners seems to be the 'facts' quoted on some of them, where they display massive jackpots and of course the oh so serious new Jackpot City logo.

So here goes, I will give a little commentary under each set of banners.

Hmm some guy in a string vest with a paper bag on his head, the slogan may say,'Play how you like' but still the question remains why? Next up a dog (a grey hound I think) with a sheep skin rug over its back, maybe a poke towards wolf in sheep's clothing?

OK this first banner (the one with the lady in underwear with a mask on and a plastic dog), I really don't know what to say about this banner something about it just gives me the creeps, I just don't like it, but don't know why not.

Now the second banner I can see the logic behind very much an 'if your names not down your not coming in' type of theme, with a red carpet implying VIP service and security all in one.

The third of this group must just have been made to be eye catching a girl with high heels and bright red and yellow stripy leggings and pink shorts on playing football (well trying to).

Archibald Mumford, come on is that a real name?? The guy in the picture looks a bit like Tony Blair might if he was on drugs to me, but still there is sort of a 'can you beat me' type challenge theme to this banner.

Now unlike the previous banner featuring a lady in underwear I do like this one. I think it is funny, a bit of a Red Riding Hood spoof but also the 'Are you Bored' comment seems to go very well with it. Although how many sites will show this and how many potential casino players would click on it are totally separate issues.

They say you should save the best till last, but this one is just plain out right bizarre, I am sure I don't get it but then that's maybe the point. I think this brings my post about strange and bizarre Jackpot City Banners to a suitable close, have a nice weekend guys.

It was only a couple of months ago that Jackpot City Casino got a complete facelift. a Number of things change, they added in Slots Tournaments and the bonus changed from a 100% match bonus up to $100 to a 500 Free No Deposit Required bonus. This new bonus is quite interesting as it means there is no risk at all on the players side, however there is a catch albeit a small one. The player may only transfer a maximum of 200 free credits into their 'real credits' balance and a minimum of 20 credits and this must be done from a positive balance. Now a by positive balance what they mean is a balance over 500 so if you have 520 then you can transfer 20 but if you have 850 then you can transfer a maximum of 200 (even though your positive by 350). I hope that makes sense.

Ok next up there was the whole look and feel change, as I think I said at the time (see my april Jackpot City Make Over Blog post) I really liked the old look, but more than that I liked the logo too. Below you can see both the old and New logos, one is very vegas and the new logo is very slick and well modern I guess.

When all said and done Jackpot City does remain a great online casino and I can understand that their new look may allow them to be seen in a more 'serious' light by their potential players. Their existing players will however know that they have always been a serious online casino, great fun and as the old slogan used to say,'Home of the biggest Jackpots' but then the new slogan sums it up pretty good too, 'More Jackpots, More Often!'.

If you have not looked at Jackpot City Casino for a while you will not have seen their new website make over, now I have to confess, as a slots player, I used to really like the flashing sky search lights, tall towers and general Las Vegas look and feel of the 'old' Jackpot City website. All of that said the new site is slick and does conform to a more modern professional look. Although I personally do wish they would have kept the old vegas style brightly colours logo, instead of changing it for again a much simpler (and admittedly nice looking) new one, that to me just looks like a little purple play button with words.

Another thing I find really annoying about the website is that it geo targets, what this means for any of you who may not heard of the term 'geo target' is that the site looks at your ip address to try to figure out where you are and then gives you a landing page which is in a currency and language which is relevant to that location. This may sound clever and indeed is, however I can inform you it does not work. It does not work for a very simple reason, ip address locations are not an exact science, I am in the UK (about 70 miles north of London) and yet when ever I visit this 'clever' geo targeting website, I get given offer in Euro's. Now as a Brit I don't have any Euro's, I buy things in Pounds and when I gamble online I tend to do that in Dollars and I like to be able to look at all the offers so I can take up the best one (some times casinos will give a better offer to people joining via their US sites and other times via their European or British sites). So this cyber second guessing does annoy me, in fact I would go as far as to say it is my pet hate. Please do not misunderstand me, I can see the benefits and in 'theory' geo targetting should be great for any site, but in practice it annoys more people than it helps (in my humble opinion) so if you ever go abroad and visit a site that would normally be in english and suddenly find it is not, you will have just fallen victim to geo targeting at work, any webmasters reading this, please please do yourself and your sites visitors a favour and put flags on the site so people can choose what they want to see and never ever have a script guess where they are from and what they want.

Ok so enough moaning, the casino is however great, clear and easy to understand and they still have all the same games, plus all the latest additions (yes that includes the very latest Tomb Raider Secrets of the Sword Slots Game and Hitman).

I see they also have a banner / promo thingy on their site in the bottom right hand corner of the page which has Lara Croft shooting and says, 'Join our Treasure Trail' It then goes on to say 'New Feature Slot' and finally 'Tomb Raider Secrets of the Sword'. Now the new game parts makes perfect sense to me, a great game, probably the best game of the year (although I will reserve judgment until the year is out). But it is the words 'Join our Treasure Trail' that intrigued me, I click on the flashy area and seem to land right back at the same page only a little grey box pops up wanting me to installed the casino. There is a banner I found which matches the promo area I put below click on it to visit Jackpot City's website.

So I installed the casino and had a look around, the casino lobby is a very nice take on the standard Microgaming look and I like the purple and white, with clean lines. But I could not for the life of me see anything else about this 'Treasure Trail'. So now I am on the trail, I want to know what the tease is about, me being me I know all the right kind of people, so I am going to find out and then I will post in hear and let you all know. If any of you figure out what it is before I do please do let me know.
